Where Will My License Appeal Hearing Take Place?

A revoked driver’s license will remain revoked until or unless the driver successfully appeals the revocation to the Michigan Secretary of State or Circuit Court.   For most drivers, this process is completely unknown and difficult to navigate.  And, a review of the Michigan Secretary of State website often makes the process seem even more overwhelming.  Even the simplest of question is not easy to answer:  Where will my license appeal hearing take place?

Most license appeal hearings are held at a branch office of the Secretary of State and are scheduled through the Administrative Hearings Section (AHS)—formerly known as the Driver’s Assessment and Appeals Division (DAAD).  Typically, those hearings are scheduled at a branch closest to the Petitioner’s address and/or that of his chosen attorney (if applicable).  However, there are currently only three live hearing locations where Administrative Law Judges (or “Hearing Officers”) conduct these license appeals hearings:  Grand Rapids, Lansing and Livonia.  Otherwise, the branch must have videoconference capability to conduct one of these hearings remotely.

There are actually two Ann Arbor locations for Videoconference AHS hearings:  On Maple Road near Stadium Boulevard, and on Washtenaw Ave. between Golfside and Carpenter.  Jackson and Monroe also have videoconference locations.  Otherwise, a Petitioner might be driving to one of the live locations mentioned above.  For out-of-state Petitioners, they typically have their hearings scheduled in Lansing (unless their license appeals attorney specifically requests a different location). Lastly, some license appeal hearings are conducted in a Circuit Court, typically in the Petitioner’s County of Residence.

For clients looking to restore their license ANYWHERE throughout Southeastern Michigan, they should contact a license appeals attorney who has significant experience appearing at each location, and before each Hearing Officer.  For the last 20+years, Attorney Daniel T. Geherin, owner of MiLicenseLawyer.com based in Ann Arbor, has dedicated his career to helping put drivers back on the road following a license revocation.  Without debate, he is recognized as a license appeals specialist in Ann Arbor and throughout Southeastern Michigan.

Each week, Dan conducts an average of 2-3 license appeals at locations including both Ann Arbor SOS, Jackson, Monroe, Livonia, and Lansing.  He has appeared before each Hearing Officer on countless occasions.  And, he has successfully filed and won hundreds of Circuit Court Appeals in Washtenaw County and throughout Southeastern Michigan.

Dan has close to a 98% success rate in winning license appeals over the past two decades.  In the last 10 years alone, he has helped put hundreds of clients back on the road lawfully and legally.  And, to prove that these results are legitimate, he even posts the case numbers of successful appeals on his website (MiLicenseLawyer.com) so that potential clients can see his extensive success.  He has taught other attorneys about driver’s license appeals in numerous seminars, and has written a book, Michigan Drunk Driving and Driver’s License Restoration Handbook, on how to protect and restore a license following a drunk driving arrest in Michigan.

For a dedicated, experienced and successful license appeals attorney anywhere in Southeastern Michigan, please contact Dan Geherin and his team MILicenseLawyer.com.  They will look over your driving record, honestly assess your chances of success, form the best plan to prevail, and then fight aggressively to restore your license.  Visit them at MILicenseAttorney.com, or call 24/7 (734) 263-2780.
